Nicola is a master’s student and practicum therapist specializing in art therapy through St. Stephen’s College, an affiliate of the University of Alberta. Neurodivergence has been part of her life personally and professionally and shapes her particular interest in working with neurodivergent adults, especially those navigating later-life diagnosis, burnout, self-understanding, and significant life transitions. Her approach integrates conversation, creative process, body awareness, and the symbolic and often wordless ways we make meaning. Nicola believes people are remarkably adaptive, and approaches the patterns we develop not as flaws, but as solutions that once helped us navigate our lives. She approaches therapy with curiosity and non-judgement, seeing many of our patterns not as flaws, but as adaptations that can be understood, refined, and built upon.

As a neurodivergent registered psychologist, I support my clients to achieve their goals, especially with respect to self-understanding, burnout, anxiety, and trauma

I primarily see clients who are or who believe they may be neurodivergent.

In addition to my Master of Counselling degree, I have a PhD in neuroscience, which provides me with a unique perspective to help those who are neurodivergent or experience brain-based conditions (such as autism) and mood disorders (including anxiety and depression).

I am still an active researcher and keep up to date on areas important to counselling.
